Special Project Initiatives
Retail Training
Turning Heads hired youth from the juvenile justice system and foster care to teach them how to work in a small convenience/gift shop. The internship ran three days a week, after school 3pm - 5pm for three months. City Youth Now paid the interns a $550 stipend.
Some of the retail industry topics include:
-How to handle money and make change
-The principles of selling
-Customer service
-Cash register basics.
For these students to have a successful re-entry into their communities, we must provide opportunities in further retail job training as well as entrepreneurial ventures. After students leave Log Cabin Ranch, we provide further support for entrepreneurial ventures initiated by the youth.
